How do you fit in?
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Process Management, the Specialist, Business Process Management supports a team that provides the enterprise with a perspective on strategic process design including assisting with capability assessments, lean process design, performance measurement and tactical process improvements. This role collaborates with both business and technical resources to determine ineffectiveness and inefficiencies and assists with business case development for process design changes.
What you’ll be doing:
Assist with the development of a strategic process model that depicts the value chain across the enterprise. Identify and train process owners at various levels and areas in the organization
Interact with business stakeholders to create and maintain standardized process documentation to facilitate discussion, tactical process improvements and process discovery
Perform process analysis and design using business analysis techniques including, but not limited to:
Current state analysis (e.g. benchmark studies, feasibility analysis, SWOT, process modeling, organizational modeling, process costing)
Qualitative information gathering (e.g. interviews, focus groups, prototyping, reverse engineering)
Solution assessment and validation (e.g. user acceptance testing, defect and issue reporting)
Conduct training on strategic process design concepts, including, but not limited to:
Lean Process Design
Process Metrics Creation
Process change management and eliciting buy-in to ensure sustained success.
Document and manage business case development for process changes
Facilitate development of documentation for new and modified business policies and procedures; assesses training requirements for impacted stakeholders; and develops end user training materials for sustained success
Facilitate process redesign, where necessary
Develop a network of resources to remain up to date in best practice concepts in technical solutions and process design thoughtware
Assist the business to prepare business cases, understand scope limitations, and manage expectations during project implementation; provides Project Managers with frequent status updates on task progress and completion of deliverables
Facilitate dialogue and discussion between the business and ITS (internal and external providers), and assist with prioritization between competing objectives (i.e. run meetings, focus groups, joint sessions, and workshops)
What you must have:
Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Process Improvement, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
Minimum five (5) years’ relevant experience, preferably in the midstream or utilities industry
Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP), certified six sigma specialist (green belt or black belt) or other relevant professional designation would be considered an asset
Experience with computer-based quantitative and analytical tools (e.g. data modeling, workflows, and business process analysis) and with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)
Interpersonal, with oral/written/presentation communications skills to document and present business needs, specifications, reports, project documents, and implementation plans
