POSITION OVERVIEW As JRC LandscapingSupervisor (Foreperson)you will play a part in the conceptual development and enhancement of our landscaping projects, overseeing its organization, scheduling, and implementation. You will ensure the delivery of landscaping projects are executed as per specifications and customer expectations. Daily as the Supervisor, you start the day with team-huddles to support the staff with any concerns, and visit sites to monitor projects and address customer issues upon visitation or as a result of escalation. You have the ability to manage one’s own time and the time of others, you give full attention to what other people are saying, and use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions. An extraordinary leader: Able to lead people and provide guidance under challenging circumstances Someone who likes to get their hands dirty and help staff where needed Ability to motivate, develop, and direct people as they work and identify the best people for the job Someone who enjoys planning and is take ambiguous details and convert it into a formidable plan of action Excellent Communicator: the ability to transmit, share and receive information clearly and effectively Results driven, organized and resourceful Customer focused JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe environment; Confer with owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and landscaping issues as they arise; Interpret and explain blueprints plans and contract terms to appropriate staff, representing the owner or developer; Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems; Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports; Negotiate with vendors to ensure lowest possible costs of materials and other products needed per project with customer budgets in consideration; Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors; Select, manage, encourage mentor and develop a team of contractors; Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines; Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods; Accountable to order all materials; knowing the best suppliers; and Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site. Requirements EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS A bachelors degree or equivalent in a related field Valid driver’s licence for the Province of Ontario 5 years management or supervision experience ideally in a landscaping or construction setting Direct experience with landscaping software Previous procurement and vendor negotiations Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop people Exceptional customer service and problem solving skills Microsoft Office Suite of products (WORD/EXCEL) Have the ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans Valid and current Ministry of Labour approved (WHIMIS Certificate; First Aid / CPR) Benefits COMPANY VEHICLE PROVIDED FOR USE AT JOB SITES
