As Colliers Project Leaders continues to attract exciting project opportunities, we seek a Site Superintendent for our Southern Ontario business unit. Do you have experience in a consultancy or professional services environment, design management, construction contract administration, or project financial management? Is your experience backed by an education in engineering, architecture, or quantity surveying?The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all trades and effectively managing daily on-site activities with specific expertise relating to Material Handling Equipment (MHE) installations. The successful candidate must possess the knowledge, experience and confidence to engage and professionally interact with the design professionals, consultants and client while successfully directing the sub-contractors and other construction related personnel in planning, coordinating and safely executing the work in accordance with the contract documents, schedule and budget. (NASDAQ: CIGI; TSX: CIG), a global leader in commercial real estate services with more than 16,000 professionals operating from 502 offices in 67 countries.What you’ll get to do as a Site Superintendent at Colliers Project Leaders:Assist in the preparation of the project schedule.Review the project plans and specifications and comment on the building design, scheduling, possible cost savings measures and potential construction problems.Review and accept the general conditions budget.Assemble the job site office and equipment requirements.Have confidence in own ability to intelligently communicate with design team/client as well as effectively lead the trades.Contact, schedule and coordinate all subcontractors, suppliers and utilities.Monitor and maintain the project construction schedule on a weekly basis.Raise and discuss relevant issues at the job site meetings.Inform the Project Manager of any errors, discrepancies or omissions contained within the Consultant’s design drawings.Maintain a safe job site and ensure that the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act are enforced.Coordinate and direct independent testing and inspections as required.Maintain and enforce good construction standards and quality control.Maintain control and responsibility for the security and operation of Van Horne’s directly owned equipment on the job site.Control and monitor labour, material and equipment expenses. Assist in the preparation of the monthly cost forecasting summaries.Ensure that “as-built” drawings are prepared on an ongoing basis by all trades during the construction period.Supervise the activities of subcontractors and junior staff.Ensures work is performed in accordance withthe Health and Safety Program, Occupational Health and Safety Act and WSI Act.Attends Health and Safety training as required.Ensures employees have the necessary training to perform their work and report workplace hazards/injuries to promptly.Ensure all new workers receive a workplace specific Health and Safety OrientationWhat you’ll need to be successful:College Diplomain engineering, architecture, construction managementor quantity surveying (or an equivalent combination of academic and practical experienceMinimum 8 years of experience as a Site Superintendent on institutional, commercial, retail and industrial new building construction and site development and deep understanding of Industrial MHE integration.College or university degree in a construction related field an asset.Must have understanding of construction drawings, terms, scheduling and planning concepts.Proficient in Microsoft Word, and Excel.Excellent organizational, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
