General Overview:

Directly oversee Plastic MoldingDepartment foreman, supervisors, technicians and indirectly all MoldingDepartment employees. The successfulcandidate will coordinate all activities in the plastic moldingdepartment via the following areas of oversight:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviews production orders or schedules to plan department operations based on product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates.
  • Plans production operations by establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products (plastic processes & plastic parts).
  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Assures machines and equipment meet specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Evaluate tooling issues with the tool room manager and prioritize repairs.
  • Develops or revises standard operating procedures and working practices and assures workers are in compliance with standards.
  • Coordinate with shift supervisors completion of performance reviews for all molding department employees.
  • Attend various types of manufacturing and/or customer meetings.
  • IdealRequirements:

  • 3+ years’ experience in the plastics manufacturing industry (i.e. plastic injection moulding, plastics blow molding, plastic extrusion, etc.)
  • Post-secondary education or training in a related field
  • 4-5 years’ production management experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of operations, including scheduling, production and quality systems.
  • Demonstrated experience and functionality with ERP’s
  • Sound knowledge of continuous improvement, lean or other process improvement techniques.
  • Self-starter with the ability to motivate others.
  • Leader who is able to make decisions, but also comfortable delegating decision making where appropriate.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Experienced in good manufacturing practices and quality initiatives and programs.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a team oriented work environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of injection molding processes.
  • Demonstrated experience at implementing continuous improvement, lean or other process improvement techniques.
