This role sits within LBC Tech, a subsidiary of Laurentian Bank Financial Group.
The incumbent analyzes various personal credit files, including applications of a more complex nature and reviews loan applications that exceed the latitude of junior team members and renders decisions within their approval limits. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for providing coaching and mentoring to develop competencies in other team members and to act as backup to the Credit Manager in support of daily activities and success of the team
º Analyze personal credit files including more complex files and render decisions or make recommendations that respect the policies and guidelines and the risk appetite of the bank
º Actively adhere to established control procedures including daily pipeline management, quality control, and data integrity responsibilities to meet personal and team targets
º Act as a resource and mentor colleagues with less experience (underwriters and credit administrators)
º Support Credit Manager by:
-acting as delegate or primary contact when Credit Manager is unavailable
-handling sales/ broker/ advisor escalations including any decision appeals
-approving applications / DLAs / QC checklist outside limits of less experienced team members
-pro-actively helping team achieve its daily targets and maintain SLAs
º Demonstrate ownership of the customer experience through entire origination process by proactively problem solving and maintaining effective communication with the various stakeholders
º Actively participate as a SME in various projects and present improvement ideas that can have a significant impact on profitability and efficiency.
º Cross train and support other lending product (Mortgages, Investment Lending, Personal Lending, Visa) activities as required
º Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current legislation and industry trends
º Work independently with minimal guidance
º Perform any other similar or general duties as required.
º Undergraduate university education in a relevant field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
º Strong analytical abilities including ability to assess more complex applications including alternative loans
º Excellent knowledge of consumer credit including credit reports and principals of lending
º Ability to read and analyze corporate financial statements
º Strong written and verbal communication skills
º Strong competency and comfort utilizing technology
º Strong Customer service skills
º Excellent negotiating skills
º Bilingualism (English and French) is preferred
