The opportunity:

At KPMG, our Digital Health practice helps our clients to transform their clinical and business operations through digital enablement. We work with our clients at both the strategic level to design an organization’s goals, vision, objectives, target operating models, and at the tactical level to design, build and implement the digital ecosystem that will support and achieve those objectives.

Our ideal fit is someone who has Manager/Senior Manager-level experience in Healthcare, with a focus on Clinical/Business Application Management, Information Technology/Infrastructure or Enterprise Architecture. You bring experience in healthcare operations, patient care and business workflows. You also bring a strong customer focus to leading IT operations in a healthcare environment and working with technology vendor partners to deliver successful outcomes together.

Our Digital Health team helps our clients to achieve their health system digital enablement ambitions by advising on ways to improve the patient experience, set digital strategies, increase the return on investment and reduce the risk of digital and technology projects, using KPMG’s leading practices. As a senior manager/manager, you will be responsible for leading engagement delivery and project teams and use your real-world experience to provide technical subject matter expertise. You will contribute to the successful delivery of KPMG services, undertake business development such as proposal writing and contribute to the development of KPMG’s consulting practice through thought leadership, knowledge management and methodology design.

The location of this position is flexible across Canada, though you will be asked to work on projects outside your local office. We are a dynamic and innovative team and equally passionate about what we do and the quality of services we provide to our clients.

What you will do

Our digital health managers work on a wide variety of digital health engagements including:

  • Develop clinical, business, information, application, technology and security architectures enterprise-wide or for specific lines of business, program areas or business functions
  • Conduct client readiness assessments related to digital transformation including the adoption of new technology such as health information systems, cloud, infrastructure, advanced and predictive analytics, IT service management tools and practices
  • Assess client architectures against reference models to provide strategic advice for improvement of business processes, applications, data and integration.
  • Evaluate application and technology portfolios in relation to target architectures, and recommend application rationalization, modernization strategies and cost take-out
  • Establish technology related practices, capabilities, standards, and methods
  • Develop business transformation plans, IT strategic plans, data and analytics strategies, target operating models, and digital strategies for enterprises and/or specific program areas or business functions
  • Conduct technology market scans and support system selection to meet clinical or business requirements
  • Develop technology, data and project governance mechanisms
  • Provide support to program evaluations, risk assessments and performance reviews of business/IT functions and large technology implementations
  • Research, propose and support partnerships and information sharing of new technologies within the digital health domain

What you bring to the role

  • 5 to 7+ years of professional work experience in a healthcare technology role in one or more areas: Enterprise and business architecture, data management, information and technology services, application/network/systems architecture or engineering. At least 3 of those years should be in a leadership role.
  • Experience managing IT operational processes, governance, systems development, infrastructure management and systems administration.
  • Core advisory skills including business process analysis, financial analysis, performance assessment, project management and risk assessment.
  • Vendor relationship management and governance (e.g. partnerships, contract/SLA management, etc.)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; Ability to speak to the benefits of technology effectively with business, clinical and executive clients without speaking in technology terms
  • Strong interpersonal skills including coaching and leading diverse teams and excellent stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • University degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, business or a similar discipline.
  • Travel will be required when safe to do so.

Additional skills and experiences that are preferred:

  • Relevant designations are an asset, including but not limited to, TOGAF, EBA, PMP, CISA, ITIL, CMC, SEI certifications, CoBIT certifications
  • Solution design and implementation skills and experience
  • Application system and/or technology portfolio management
  • HIS/EHR application package knowledge, selection and/or implementation
  • Relational database management planning, design, and implementation skills and experience
  • Business intelligence, data warehouse, and/or performance management application package knowledge, selection and/or implementation is an asset.
  • MBA, MS Health Informatics or other related Masters degree.
  • French communication skills would be a decided asset.
