As the Senior Manager, you will benefit from the diversity of the portfolio (current coverage industries include Healthcare, Technology, Retail, Manufacturing, Food Services, Diversified, Other) supporting Global Banking & Markets teams in an environment of continuous learning, and is exposed to significant deal flow that is diverse in terms of structures and risks. You will contribute to the sound asset growth and profits of the Bank by performing in-depth assessment of credit requests, ensuring all requests are properly analyzed and adjudicated, data validated, and effective recommendations are made facilitating decisions within requested time frames (accelerated at times). You will also facilitate credit adjudication for assigned industry groups or geographic regions and ensuring that new underwritings are in compliance with established guidelines and limits.

What you’ll do in this role?

• Review pertinent financial and industry information and perform in depth risk assessment of incoming credit applications.
• Ensure prompt and timely adjudication of credit applications and annual reviews to ensure that credit applications submitted are analyzed accurately, support information is completed, providing sound recommendations to senior executives and participate in discussions in Senior Credit Committees.
• High level of collaboration with stakeholders to achieve optimal effectiveness and efficiency in meeting client needs as well as operational and regulatory requirements.
• Increasing use of analytics to assess the portfolio, underlying trends, and application in credit adjudication.
• Undertake industry analysis and lending guideline policy reviews for submission to Senior Management including preparation of the annual Industry and Board Reports.
• Alert credit portfolio management to unsatisfactory trends in lending practices. Early identification of problem loans and ensure accuracy of risk ratings through identification of changes in account quality (via review of industry/economic trends). Assess strategies and restructuring proposals for problem accounts
• Develop a high degree of industry knowledge/expertise and become a trusted advisor.
• Ensure the ongoing quality of the credit portfolio through accuracy of reporting and analytics, review of industry publications, assessment of monthly/quarterly financial reporting packages, and discussions with banking.

What we’re looking for?

• Post-Secondary Degree in Business or related. MBA, CA/CPA designation is a strong asset
• Full understanding of financial statements and cash flow analysis with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Previous credit risk experience in the financial sector
• Knowledge of credit risk policies, products and processes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
• Strong time management, planning and organizing skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
• Strong Analytics, Computer/Excel, and Analysis skills.
