Purpose The Senior Manager, Performance & Insights leads the business analytics practice within IB MIS Finance in support of Consumer and Small Business and other areas in International Banking. The incumbent is responsible for delivering actionable insights to drive business opportunities and enabling fact-based decision making, all in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. The Senior Manager Performance & Insights works closely with key partners across International Banking, both in Toronto and in-country to ensure consistency and alignment of strategic and business performance projects. Key partners include, among others: IB Consumer and small business, Strategy, Finance, Risk Management, Consumer Analytics, Shared Services, Digital Banking and Marketing. Key Accountabilities: Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Generate and deliver actionable business insights through the application of advanced business analytics techniques to validate hypotheses on business opportunities and enable fact-based decision making, with a focus on financial and non-financial performance. Prepare executive presentations to deliver analysis, recommendations and business performance results at different levels of the organization, including Business Reviews, country touch bases and other ad-hoc requests. Manage analytical inquiries related to executive decisions and conduct root cause analysis of key operational issues, providing guidance and advice towards optimal resolution and mitigation while ensuring a timely and high-quality response. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team Experience / Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics or any related field. Master’s degree in decision sciences, business analytics or business administration is an asset. 5+ years working knowledge in retail & small business banking segments, finance, risk, data analytics with a solid grasp of profitability and performance measurement tools. Strong attention to accuracy and detail, able to work independently through obstacles Strong skills interpreting data, generating actionable insights and delivering strategic messages to senior leadership level positions. Ability to manage efficiently multiple priorities in order to deliver work under tight deadlines Strong statistical and modelong skills using Python, R, SAS, SQL and Excel Strong skills with data visualization tools (Tableau or Power BI).
