Burnaby is also within commuting distance of many smaller communities within the Fraser Valley and North Shore, and the office is just a short walk from the Brentwood Rapid Transit station.Key ResponsibilitiesAssuming lead geotechnical/geological, project engineering and/or project management roles on a wide variety of mining, transportation, municipal, terrain development, resource industry, utility, and commercial/ industrial projects Managing and conducting geotechnical investigations, analysis and design assignments Preparing technical proposals and reports Directing and training junior geotechnical engineering staffAssisting in the maintenance and development of client relationshipsFollowing and taking a pro-active role in corporate health safety and environmental programsDeveloping technical skills, experience and contribute to a positive team environmentProviding excellent practical client service with a commitment to technical excellenceCollaborating with other Wood offices and geotechnical engineering staff on projects in Western CanadaDegree from an accredited university in Geological, Geotechnical or Civil (geotechnical option) EngineeringWell organized, with a sound knowledge of the application of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, geomorphology, engineering geology, hydrogeology and interested in technical and personal advancement.Registered or eligible for immediate registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists of British ColumbiaA minimum of 10 years of diverse, geologically oriented, geotechnical engineering experience in terrain conditions similar to, or applicable to, those found in British Columbia is requiredKeen interest in a variety of geotechnical/geological engineering assignments across a variety of terrain conditions and industries Strong technical and project management skillsExcellent workplace safety practicesDesire to provide excellent practical client service and a passion for technical excellenceMust have excellent oral and written communication (English) skillsValid Driver”s LicenseExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal tactfully and effectively with team-matesPhysical ability to perform the duties of the position (hiking in rugged/remote terrain conditions)Ability and willingness to travel frequently to a variety of project sitesKnowledge of regional market, terrain/geotechnical conditions would be an assetIn addition to technical expertise and competencies, you are enthusiastic, resourceful, organized, and detail oriented.
