Job Description Summary
The Senior Director, Business Delivery provides management oversight and leadership at the program level and is responsible for the successful delivery of the change. The role is mainly operational since this person is responsible for program governance and for overseeing the successful planning, execution and implementation of the program’s output/product.

The role requires effective coordination of multiple workstreams (i.e. Business, Technology and Organizational Change Management) within the program and management of their interdependencies including oversight of any risks and issues arising. This role is responsible for the overall integrity and coherence of the program. They develop and maintain the program environment to support each individual workstream within it.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Implements and manages Program Level Governance framework (i.e. Risk / Issue Management, Change Management including complex customization/configuration, Go/NoGo entry/exit gating criteria)
  • Acts as the key ‘Agent of Change’ by adopting, facilitating, championing and aligning various stakeholder groups around common goals and objectives leading to realization of business benefits
  • Partners with the Business and Technology Lead on scope definition, prioritization and management of all planning and execution aspects of change implementation
  • Partners with the Business Lead to ensure that business solutions & processes will deliver desired business outcomes while looking to optimize cost relative to intended benefit
  • Partners with the Business, Technology and Quality Management Lead to ensure the delivery of new products or services is to the appropriate level of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the program plan and program governance arrangements
  • Accountable for program financials including communication to Steering Committee
  • Manages to resolution program level risks/issues and escalates to Program Leadership for resolution as required
  • Manages stakeholder communication including progress reporting at regular intervals to the Steering Committee and other stakeholders as required and defined in the governance process documentation Steering Committee
  • Oversees program level resource plans for Business, SP&E and Platform ensuring teams are fully staffed with appropriate skillset
  • Demonstrates commitment to continually improve, share learning with others and encourage team development. Embody Agile core values of openness, courage, respect, focus, and commitment
  • Identify Business / SP&E resources in demand that may put the program at risk due to overallocation on competing priorities and escalate for resolution as required
  • Oversee development of Integrated Milestone plan – including business workstreams and agile delivery plans (within Rally) to tie key milestones with business dependencies and business readiness activities

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 6 years of related experience required

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge

  • 10+ years of related experience is preferred
  • Prior experience in project management & bus arch preferred
  • Prior management experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree preferred
  • Experience with Agile processes and experience with value stream based organization would be an asset
  • Prior experience within the P&C industry is preferred
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal, and strong communication skills
  • Ability to create a sense of community amongst the members of the project teams
  • Proven negotiation skills and a strong ability to navigate and communicate with executive levels in the organization
  • Demonstrable knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring, and controlling programs
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures
  • Sufficient seniority and credibility to advise project teams on their projects in relation to the program
  • Ability to find ways of solving or preempting problems
  • Experience in prior software implementation projects an asset
  • Experience with large program delivery and Guidewire is a strong asset
