Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: London, Toronto and Winnipeg.Role DescriptionThe Senior Analytics Platform Specialist is responsible for leading the complete lifecycle of a new or modified software product or integrated systems from research and design to managing the production implementation, training and support. The Senior Analytics Platform Specialist champions and contributes to the development of standards, tools, processes and best practices.This role applies advanced knowledge to complex work and supports project and operations teams by sharing skills and mentoring. This role leads the work to implement solutions to complex problems, which may be done independently or through leading or supporting the collaboration with other stakeholders.We are looking for an experienced analytics professional with strong technical background in administration of platforms like SAS, Power BI, Tableau and related technologies. Your technical experience will be leveraged to support tools and infrastructure, working with other teams, as necessary. You will use your knowledge of the analytics platform and supporting infrastructure to support stakeholders in deriving insights from data. You will be required to understand the underlying architecture of the analytic products to recommend proper set up and configurations that will best meet enterprise needs. Understanding of underlying data structures that are used to deliver insights using the analytic platforms will be critical to answer end user questions and provide required support.Accountabilities: Installing, configuring, maintaining, and securing Analytics applicationsCollaborate with business partners and other specialists to ensure that the tools and technology platform can support the analytics requirementsAssisting users, when required, in troubleshoot reports and analytic modelsAutomation of key reports and analytical modelsUnderstanding of ETL / ELT routines or near real-time data feeds that enable the analytical models or reports and dashboardsStreamline the delivery time of production reports by identifying optimization opportunities within the existing reporting processAssist in managing day-to-day results, reporting and visualization for major corporate initiativesQualifications and Competencies:University or College education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.5+ years’ experience supporting SAS / Tableau / Power BI or similar toolsProven technical experience with large relational databases and big data platforms like MS SQL, DB2, HadoopStrong background in Unix and Windows integrated environmentsStrong background working with Excel (any experience converting excel reports into Tableau or Power BI reports is nice to have)Strong business acumen and communication and presentation skillsUnderstanding of data models, big data repositories (Data Lake), data warehouse concepts and processes Strong SQL skills to perform data analysis and writing complex, highly-optimized queries across large volumes of dataProven experience of architecting and building complex data visualization and analytical solutionsExperience in understanding and using ETL / ELT routines developed using various data integration platforms (Ab Initio, Data Stage, Syncsort, etc.)Experience in financial services industryExperience in data integration tools like Syncsort, Ab Initio, Data StageExperience in big data platforms like HadoopYou will consent to a criminal background check as well as the Government of Canada enhanced security screening, the cost will be covered by Great-West LifeOur Story Canada Lifeis a leading insurance, wealth management and benefits provider focused on improving the financial, physical and mental well-being of Canadians.
