Mogo is looking for a Senior Accountant to join the Finance Team. This individual will report to the Director, Finance and work independently on projects and more complex areas of our accounting. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, have a strong work ethic and be an excellent team player.
What you’ll do:
+ Take a lead role on more complex accounting areas including implementing & updating policies, preparation of supporting schedules, and preparing journal entries.
+ Preparing and reviewing working papers and memos for quarterly audits.
+ Support monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting including preparation of supporting schedules for external reporting (e.g. quarterly and annual MD&A and financial statements).
+ Assisting with management?s evaluation of internal controls for SOX compliance, including maintaining process documentation and monitoring effectiveness of controls.
+ Project manage process improvement projects & system implementations.
+ Mentor & coach more junior members of the accounting and finance team.
What you’ll need:
+ Designated CPA or international equivalent
+ Progressive work experience in Accounting with experience implementing projects or process improvements.
+ Previous experience in a public company and IFRS reporting is preferred. Financial services industry experience is definitely an asset.
+ Advanced experience using MS Excel; Strong working knowledge of Great Plains is an asset.
+ Quick learner and adaptable to a dynamic environment.
+ Demonstrable ability to juggle priorities.
+ Exceptional analytical and decision making skills and the ability to understand complex issues.
+ Demonstrated leadership (coaching and mentoring of more junior staff).
+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
+ Salary is negotiable and based on level of expertise.
