General Description:- Responsible for administrative and field level support to the Project Safety Manager. The position is intended to support Construction Activities. Responsibilities. Ensure tasks are in accordance to WorkSafeBC policies and procedures. Assigned responsibilities by the Project Safety Manager Provide orientation to new and incumbent staff assigned to the project Provide orientation to subcontractors personnel Management Plan and Construction Safety Plan Assist Supervisors in the inspection of the project activities Overseeing the day-to-day implementation of the Health and Safety Perform first aid as required and prepare the required reports for WorkSafeBC in the event an Injury Report is required Ensure that follow-up actions as recorded in minutes are assigned and completed in a timely fashion Arrange, Coordinate and manage all modified work cases including ensuring meaningful and productive work is available with Segment 2 Management Support all levels Health and Safety committees on the project including scheduling meetings, preparing and distributing agendas, taking minutes and preparing, distributing and filing minutes of meetings Perform investigation of incidents/events on the project sites Correspond with injured workers as soon as possible in order to facilitate safe and early return to work. Assist supervisors during emergencies and in the initial stages of accidents Forward all collected information, injury reports, witness statement etc to the claims manager. Maintain detailed inventory control systems to track project Safety assets per WorkSafeBC requirements Attend meetings, record minutes and prepare meeting minutes for distribution Prepare for and assist with audits Manage safety and electronic filing Administer the compilation of data and documents as required. Physical Requirements The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in a safety role, preferably as a representative of the Prime Contractor/ Constructor Valid Traffic Control Person certification. Current Construction Safety Officer Certification Experience working around open water and designated substances are asset A valid class 5 drivers license Current Occupational First Aid Level 2 certification. Strong working knowledge of BC WCB Act and Regulations; enhanced level of knowledge and experience in heavy civil and marine construction requirements is considered a strong asset Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills Proficient in Microsoft office software Working knowledge of heavy equipment and construction terms and processes
