An elite executive branding firm is looking for a Resume Development Support Specialist The company Our client is proudly one of Canada’s highest value providers of executive branding and career empowerment solutions. Since 2006, the company has delivered thousands of communication tools, outplacement solutions and coaching mandates to facilitate career transitions, outplacements, growth and professional advancement. The companys solutions have benefited top executives from some of the worlds leading companies as well as senior government officials and public sector leaders. What youll do Many resume writers in todays market just fill in a few blanks and reformat material to deliver a better-looking version of a generic resume. Our client has never taken that approach. Their executive branding solutions are delivered in a deep dive, multi-step process and the initial phase is the development of an extensive document that involves: ANALYSIS: Assessing existing resumes and recognizing gaps between existing/missing career details and unqualified/quantified statements that just create ambiguity and necessitate questions in an interview. GAP CLOSING: Posing questions about roles and achievements to draw out relevant, high value details needed to promote maximum perceived credibility, experience, expertise and potential. CONTENT CREATION: Proactively proposing and prioritizing strategic content developed through online research and your instinctive/acquired understanding of various industries and job functions. EDITING: Enhancing existing information to make stronger, clearer, value-driven statements. RESEARCH: Finding descriptions of employers, roles and solutions on the Web. Our client needs proactive, detail-oriented team members who can develop these comprehensive documents – not just write traditional resumes. Once you excel in this initial phase of the branding process, you could transition to delivering a variety of final solutions and managing other specialists, projects and client interactions. A business mindset and the ability to interpret information from the point of view of an employer, recognize relevant career details (provided or absent) and know what questions are needed to draw out the context (qualification and quantification) required to promote value and align professionals to targeted roles. You should generally know/understand the competencies and functions of an array of mid-to-senior level positions (like those that a VP of Sales, CFO or Ops Manager should have and what employers hiring them are looking for) and you can offset this with your ability to source relevant information online and align it to various industries and clients. While you will receive guidance and examples on how to flesh out and prioritize details, having an existing base of knowledge is essential. You must be a dependable, detail-oriented person who can self-manage, prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines while working independently and remotely. Medium to advanced skills with Microsoft Word (i.e. indents, fillable forms, modifying templates, tracking/integrating changes, consistent formatting of text and spacing, etc.). Other qualifications University degree or equivalent (business, marketing and/or communications focus is an asset). Previous experience in resume development, executive branding and/or recruitment is an asset (assuming you are open to doing things differently). You should be very strong at writing, editing and sourcing information on the Web. The ability to internalize guidance, preferences and constructive criticism and then self-correct as required. You should be flexible and willing to accommodate certain days and weeks that are slower or busier than others. You must have your own computer running Word 2016 or later. You should be able to showcase samples of previous career branding or communications work (ideally before and after examples if you worked on resumes). Experience/ability to populate LinkedIn profiles is an asset as is proficiency with other social media platforms. You cant be afraid to ask questions: sometimes a quick call can save a lot of time.
