Position: Security Guard

Site: Respect Rx – 306 Rideau Street

City: Ottawa, Ontario K1N 5Y5

Status: (1) Full Time

• Full Time position, Monday- Friday, 0800-1600

Pay Rate: $18.00/hr

Job Description:

• Proactive & reactive security patrols
• Response to incidents
• Report writing
• Investigate routine incidents
• De-escalate situations involving dealing, drinking, and fighting to ensure that all areas are covered and secured at all times
• Ensure that users are not loitering or injecting outside of the pharmacy
• Access control into building
• Keep the street outside oft he pharmacy clear for pedestrian traffic

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• At least 1 year of security experience, with experience working in Healthcare
• Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C Certificate
• Ability to work in a fast-pace and flexible environment while maintaining the utmost professionalism
• Candidates with experience working in Healthcare and Mental Health will be given priority
• Successful completion of In-Class Management of Aggressive Behaviour, In- Class Use of Force Level 2, In-Class Baton Training Certification
• Moderate physical activity, standing and walking for long periods of time in outdoor weather conditions

At the time of the interview applicant must be able to produce proof of completion of the following prerequisites:

1. Immunization Record
2. A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
3. Proficient in English (both oral and written)
4. First Aid & CPR – Level C

Successful completion of the following requirements provided by Paladin are mandatory prior to placement:

1. Management of Aggressive Behavior
2. Use of Force
3. Report Writing
4. Naloxone Administration Traininhg
5. Additional courses as assigned

Upon hire successful applicants will be required to complete the following Paladin online courses:

1. Successful completion of Paladin’s online Customer Service
2. Successful completion of Paladin’s online Patrol Procedures
3. Successful completion of Paladin’s online Diversity Awareness
4. Successful completion of Paladin’s online Finding The OHS Manual
5. Successful completion of Paladin’s online Paladin OHS Orientation
6. Successful completion of Paladin’s online Dealing with People with Mental Illness
7. Successful completion of Paladin’s online Workplace Respect
8. Successful completion of Paladin’s online Slips, Trips and Falls
9. Additional courses as assigned
