The successful applicant for the full-time position will be required to teach 8 sections of undergraduate philosophy over the Fall and Summer terms starting in September 2021.
The successful applicant for the half-time position will be required to teach 4 sections of undergraduate philosophy over the Fall and Winter terms starting in September 2021.
You will instruct students, facilitate learning, and evaluate student progress in College courses. You will plan, organize, and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners, and maintain quality inclusive, learner-centered instruction.
There is also an inherent assumption that the duties of regular faculty members involve responsibilities beyond those expected of contract faculty members.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
The AOS for both positions is open. AOC for the successful applicants must include critical thinking, and either introductory applied ethics, or introductory philosophy of religion. There is a strong preference for competency to meet current and ongoing teaching needs that include introductory epistemology, introductory metaphysics, and business ethics.
The department encourages applicants with an interest in teaching historically underrepresented traditions in philosophy, for example Indigenous philosophy, Africana philosophy, critical race theory, queer theory.
A completed PhD in Philosophy is strongly preferred, but applicants who are ABD in Philosophy may be considered.
Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate teaching excellence in as many of the competency areas as possible through a record of student evaluations in relevant courses.
