In addition, the Registered Nurse acts as a leader and mentor to LPNs and Care Partners(HCAs) by motivating and empowering the team, ensures excellence in the completion of nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care. The RN works cohesively with other team members to ensure that the changing needs of residents are addressed, acts as an advocate, facilitator and change agent.In accordance with Covenant Care’s mission, vision, and values, this position is responsible for ensuring that residents receive quality care and service according to Covenant Care policies and procedures. Provides support to residents, their family and visitors during the resident’s end of life journey that will enable choice, dignity, privacy, respect and individuality.QualificationsBachelor”s of Science in Nursing (BScN); or equivalent combination of education & experience requiredActive College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) RegistrationCurrent CPR / First Aid Certification / Equivalency requiredDementia education an assetOne (1) year of experience in a Hospice / Palliative Care or Continuing Care facility requiredStrong interpersonal relationship and communication skills and able to utilize professional judgmentStrong assessment skills and computer skills an assetExhibits open and sincere approach to relating to people by demonstrating respect and compassion for everyone equallyRecognizes and responds effectively to verbal and non-verbal cues with exceptional active listening skillsAbility to cope with moral distress regarding resident/family decisions that involve risk to the client while preserving resident”s dignity and self worth during interactionsAbility to cope with frequent changes such as daily routine, workload, shifts and resident needsExceptional multi-tasking and time management skills
