As an associate R&D engineer, you play an essential role in proposing and implementing technological developments and solutions. You perform product development tasks using your technical expertise.

Reporting to the head of the R&D Department, you will perform various technological missions, identifying problems and contributing to the solutions.

Your responsibilities

  • Document the work and contribute to the drawing up reports and to the design of products and components for electrical distribution, in accordance with the specifications.
  • Keep the strategic plans up to date and execute the activities in accordance with the current direction by drawing up and presenting test reports and design reviews.
  • Contribute your creativity in R&D projects and propose follow-up activities based on project results (product prototyping coordination and product testing).
  • Collect information on the ABB products and technologies; develop an understanding of the technical factors and of customer value.
  • Technically support the activity and customers as well as other functions such as the supply chain and manufacturing operations.
  • Participate in projects and provide support to your employees; consult with project team members and your staff to gather information and knowledge.
  • Work toward recognition of the importance of intellectual property in the industry and of the benefits of ABB patents associated with your field of research, including risk management for research and development projects.

Your background

  • 1-2 years of experience in mechanical design, with plastic components, and/or sheet metal. Design of copper and aluminum bus bars is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of the product development process.
  • Command of CREO, PRO E, and 3D and 2D Drawing.
  • A solution-oriented approach with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering
  • Bilingualism (French and English) oral and written
