Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager, Transmission and Distribution. Reporting to the Manager of Project Delivery, this position is in our Vancouver, BC office. This role has overall responsibility for the delivery of project to the agreed specifications, ensuring that quality, schedule, and cost/budget targets are met and for managing the associated risk. If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast-paced environment, this is the opportunity for you.Key ResponsibilitiesSafe, environmentally responsible, timely and on-budget delivery of high voltage transmission line and substation projects on an EPCM or EPC basisManaging the project through its lifecycle, starting from project definition, development of the project plan, budget, schedule, risk management, procurement and contracting strategies, through to the engineering, procurement, and construction phasesResponsible for delivery of agreed schedule and financial performance, proactively intervening to avoid slippageNegotiating changes to project scope or specification with the client. Follow Change Management process to identify and approve scope, budget specification and schedule modificationsGuiding and directing multidiscipline project teams, which may include external specialists and involve staff from multiple offices and sitesInterfacing with high value engineering centers (HVEC) as required and manages scope across all offices involvedReporting regularly to the project sponsors, the client and senior management regarding the overall project progress and performance, utilizing client systems where appropriateDeveloping relationship and maintaining communication channels with clients, stakeholders, and internal personnel to ensure that work flows smoothly as well as providing efficient project deliveryMentoring and training junior project managers and project services support staffUniversity degree in relevant discipline from a recognized universityProject Management Professional (PMP), Associate in Project Management (APM) or equivalent certification is preferredKnowledge, skills, and experience10-15 years of pertinent experience including minimum 10 years project management experience in ECPM or EPC delivery models, preferably on transmission or distribution utility projectsStrong technical skill background relevant to transmission line and substation design Detailed knowledge and experience of stakeholder and requirements managementAble to manage project start-up, produce and communicate the project execution planKnowledge of project performance improvement activities and how to implement them on projectsPersonal attributes:Safety focused with an uncompromising approach to risk management.
