Hays Engineering team in Vancouver, are recruiting for a Production Manager, for a Manufacturing plant in the lower main land.
Your new Company
The business has operations throughout Canada and the US, and work to manufacture Steel products for use in a variety of construction, agricultural and speciality applications. Due to continued progression planning and growth, the team are hiring a new Production Manager to support them in their lower main land facility.
Your new Role
As the Production Manager, you will report directly into the Director of Operations, for the Canadian business. You will carry out the day- to- day operations of the plant. The position is responsible to ensure all employees are working in accordance with company safety, quality, production and housekeeping policies and procedures. You will focus on maintaining a safe work environment, while working to build and maintain a strong team culture. You will measure, monitor and report on key performance indicators. You will be responsible for hiring, training and motivating members of your team. Work with the engineering team, to make suggestions for enhancing production methods. You will develop and implement new policies to facilitate better efficiencies, and inform the director of operations for Canada of any problems relating to your facility that require further support/ attention.
What you’ll need to Succeed
To succeed as the Production Manager, you will bring 5+ years of plant experience, with leadership and supervisory experience. You will maintain a Bachelors degree in Engineering, and/ or any post- secondary courses in relation to Supervision and Operations Management. You will have strong knowledge of Work safe health and safety regulations, and management experience in a Unionised environment. You will demonstrate success at driving a strong safety culture into the workplace, and lean manufacturing/ six sigma training is highly valued! Experience with union contract negotiations is an asset. All applicants will have strong communication, interpersonal and planning skills. You will be good with computer skills, and have experienced working with an MRP integrated computer environment. Knowledge of ISO 9001- 2000 policies and procedures is needed!
