The successful individual will lead a team of professionals in advancing the DMS for the CP140 Aurora long-range patrol aircraft. The DMS provides an integrated interface to control multiple sensors providing an operator access to information from sensors like RADAR, the Acoustics Signal Processor, and the Electro-Optical/Infrared turret.This DMS is “In-Service” (that is – it is currently flying) and every product advancement will directly help both the operators and the maintainers of the CP140 fleet.The systems on the aircraft are constantly evolving so the Product Owner will need to elicit customer vision for product advancement and will work with representatives from DND (like 415 Squadron), L3 MAS, and GDMS-C to identify sound business cases for product advancement; ensuring user requirement capture, solution development, integration, user acceptance, and operational deployment. The DMS SW team is made of 12 dedicated professionals working in 2 LeSS scrum teams that interface with several matrixed teams (Airworthiness, Safety, Cyber Security, Simulation, and Ground Support).Key day-to-day duties include:Lead Sprint Review and Sprint Planning sessions; coordinating the DMS SW team activities with DND and L3 MAS; grooming and prioritizing the backlog for emerging requirements and future work;Work with the team’s scrum masters to ensure the synchronization of work between both scrum teams and ensure matrixed team support;Guide the SW team from requirement capture, through design, development, integration, test and deployment activities; coordinate root cause and corrective actions for system issuesEnsure the team has adequate development infrastructure and licensing;Help the team tune and capture development processes and configuration management;Report to the Engineering Manager on project status, team performance, opportunities, and risks;Essential Skills:Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in the Defense or Aerospace industryDemonstrated experience interacting with end customers and/or purchasing agentsExcellent leadership and strong interpersonal and consensus building skillsCapable of guiding system and software engineersTrack record of success estimating and delivering a software product using Agile development methodsPrevious experience with software integration and qualification testingBachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or applicable disciplineDesire and capability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholder communities to influence, negotiate and assure a level of trust and satisfactionGeneral Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada is one of Canada’s leading defence and security technology engineering companies with a worldwide reputation for excellence in the design and development of integrated solutions for land, airborne, maritime, and cyber applications.
