Start date is negotiable, but we wish to have someone in the position by Sept 1, 2020 at the latest.Job Description :The successful candidate’s responsibilities will consist of collection, processing, and analysis of a variety of datasets (including, but not necessarily limited to multibeam sonar, lidar, acoustic Doppler current profiling, sediment coring, etc.) to understand turbidity current dynamics in a glacier-fed lacustrine setting. Qualifications :We seek individuals holding a PhD in geoscience (or related discipline), with experience collecting aDcp data and (ideally) building autonomous moorings to study flows in submarine canyons. Experience with GIS, skills in Python/Matlab or equivalent languages, and some engineering experience are assets. The ideal candidate is expected to work independently and collaboratively, and possess cross-cultural communication skills.To be eligible as a Postdoctoral scholar at the University of Calgary, you must have been awarded a PhD or equivalent within the five (5) years immediately preceding the appointment.
