Postdoctoral Fellowship in Parks, Conservation, Tourism and Community Development A Postdoctoral Fellow is sought to engage in community-based research in the Rural Livelihoods and Sustainable Communities Lab at Thompson Rivers University, Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada (https://courtneymason.sites.tru.ca). The Fellowship is offered for one year (2021-2022) and may be renewed for a second year (2022-2023) based on the performance of the candidate. The Fellowship will provide opportunities for the researcher to engage with communities on projects in the following areas: 1) Parks with a focus on conservation issues. Possible field sites include: Banff National Park, British Columbia Provincial Parks, and/or newly created Indigenous Protected Areas in Canada; 2) Tourism development in rural and Indigenous communities in Canada. The position will have a salary of $55,000 per year plus full university benefits which include: Medical Services Plan, Extended Medical Services Plan, Dental Plan Insurance, Grouplife Insurance, Accident Death and Dismemberment Insurance, Short Term and Long-Term Disability Benefits, and Pension Plan Enrolment. All research costs will be covered and some relocation expenses will also be provided. Anticipated start date: late spring or summer 2021. QUALIFICATIONS Essential criteria: A completed Ph.D. in a relevant discipline Strong community-based research skills Demonstrated publication record Knowledge of diverse data collection and analysis techniques Ability to take a leadership role in a multi-disciplinary research team Experience with mentoring undergraduate and graduate students Strong interpersonal / communication skills Desirable criteria: Experience with both qualitative and quantitative methods.
