Pinchin is seeking a Building Science Technologist to join our Building Science and Sustainability team in our Dartmouth Office.Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Building Science Technologist will be involved in the fast paced world of Baseline Property Condition Assessments conducting site visits and inspections along with deficiency reporting and costing analysis.A Day in the life of a Building Science Technologist at Pinchin:Review and complete non-invasive assessments of existing buildings and structures (roof assemblies, exterior cladding assemblies, balcony assemblies, fenestrations and parking garage structures) to determine design and remedial work optionsCarry out all necessary quantity takeoffs and measurements over the course of a projectConduct Baseline Property Condition Assessments in accordance with the ASTM standards and best construction practices at various client sitesCapital planning as it relates to Baseline Property Condition AssessmentsPrepare written reports of findings, summarizing, collating and interpreting the results of field data and creating costing spreadsheetsFinancial involvement and coordination with support of the project managerMaintain QA/QC protocolsMaintain health and safety protocols as well as quality control within the groupPerform any other job-related duties that may be assignedAdditional possible involvement of a Building Science Technologist at Pinchin:Assist in conducting invasive building inspections and testing (ex. Roof cut tests, water / leak tests, etc.)Provide support in the development of designs and specifications for restoration projectsCarry out construction reviews to ensure quality standards and design requirements are achievedWhat you bring to the Pinchin team:College Diploma in Building Science, Architectural Technology / Science, Construction Technology or Civil Engineering Technology. Bachelor of Science or Applied Science is preferredExperience with building construction or maintenance preferredKnowledge of building mechanical/electrical systems and building envelope assemblies preferredExperience with Building Condition Assessments in accordance with the “ASTM Designation: E 2018 – 15 Standard Guide for Property Condition Assessments: Baseline Property Condition Assessment Process” will be considered an assetMust be able to read and edit technical specifications, drawings and reportsExperience writing technical reports is preferredProficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)Ability to safely transport and carry 20-foot extension or folding ladder, hand tools and PPE is requiredValid driver-s license, insurance & personal vehicle required (work related travel expenses will be compensated)Availability to travelWhat-s in it for you:Of course, we offer competitive salaries and great benefits, but what makes Pinchin stand out from the crowd?
