Program Medical Director
Multi Organ Transplant
$75,000 – $93,500 per annum based on skills and experience
Successful individual will be required to work 8 to 12 hour shifts (days, evenings, nights) and weekends.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the
UHN Multi Organ Transplant Program (MOT) , one of the largest and most comprehensive organ transplant programs in North America. The MOT Program is committed to best practice and developing innovative guidelines and pathways to achieve an evidenced based approach to patient care. There is an active fellowship program and trainees rotate through the Program to learn from the various surgical and medical programs offered.
will be based at the Toronto General Site within the MOT Program. The MOT Program performs over 600 transplants a year including lung, heart, liver, kidney and pancreas transplants.
The PA will function as a vital part of this collaborative team of Physicians, Surgeons, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners , Fellows and Allied Health Professionals providing care to Transplant patients in a physician-extender role. Their role will include, but will not be limited to, comprehensive inpatient medical management of transplant patients including assisting with patient admissions and discharges. The PA will have the opportunity to join a team that focuses on improvement and understands the importance of education and training in each member of the team. The PA will be offered training and educational opportunities and will be expected to develop their potential as a leader and teacher in the MOT Program. There is also potential for involvement in many of the research activities.
Principal responsibilities include utilizing and demonstrating a theoretical knowledge base and an advanced level of clinical competence in caring for Transplant patients. This involves collecting and interpreting data about the health of the patient and working with the transplant team to appropriately assess and manage complex patients. The PA will have the opportunity to support quality improvement and research activities. Responsibilities will also include participating in policy and procedure development as well as education and professional development. The PA will perform other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
Graduate of a Physician Assistant Program (Canadian/US) or equivalent.
Certified by the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada or National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (US)
Eligible to work in Canada/Ontario
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and with respect in an oral and written format with patients, public, colleagues and other health disciplines
Demonstrated ability to perform complete and appropriate clinical assessment and development of a treatment plan in accordance with medical directives
Proficient and appropriate use of diagnostic and procedural skills
Demonstrated effective problem solving and critical thinking skills
Demonstrated and proven ability to work in a collaborative care model with all members of the health care team
Demonstrated ability to perform well in critical and high stress situations
Demonstrated commitment to continuing education activities supporting ongoing professional learning
Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
Demonstrated ability to apply basic computer skills
Experience in a surgical setting preferred
