Operations Controller BUS

As an Operations Controller-Bus, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety, quality, and efficiency of all Calgary Transit Bus service. Primary duties include:

Provide customer service, including leadership and direction, to Calgary Transit Operators through Calgary Transit’s Radio Communications Network, and Bus CAD system.

Ensure uninterrupted delivery of Bus service by addressing and solving issues, and monitoring/correcting bus On-Time Performance concerns.

Communicate service status updates to external customers and internal stakeholders, especially during service disruptions.

Complete reports for all incidents and occurrences to quantify output through performance measures developed to ensure divisional objectives are met.

Support the Occupational Health and Safety program by leading Health and Safety initiatives.

Collaborate with internal and external partners to highlight safety initiatives.

Implement Calgary Transit’s response to emergencies and service disruptions in accordance with the City of Calgary’s Emergency Service Disaster Plan.

Qualifications

A High School diploma or equivalency (e.g. G.E.D.)

A minimum of a 1 year of recent experience (within last 5 years) as a Transit Bus Controller

A working knowledge of Calgary Transit service and operating regulations is required.

A valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.

Ability obtain a City of Calgary operator’s permit.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office is also required.

The successful applicant is required to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally, both in oral and written form; this includes frequent report writing.

The applicant must possess competent interpersonal skills, a strong ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.

Individuals must be able to remain focused, calm, and highly effective in emergency and high-stress situations.

Success in this position requires relationship building, conflict and time management skills.

A good understanding of Calgary Transit’s Customer Commitment is beneficial.

Pre-employment Requirements

A security clearance will be conducted.

Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.

Pre-employment Drug Test: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
