Reports To:  Manager, Secondary Online Learning
Location:  Toronto, Yonge & Eglinton (on the Yonge subway line)

TVO is looking for Secondary Curriculum Specialists in the following subject areas (Mathematics, Science, Business, Social Science and Humanities, English, Canadian and World Studies, and Technological Education) who are available to begin as soon as possible.

The Curriculum Specialist will apply a proven understanding of transferable skills, deep knowledge of curriculum expectations for deep learning and best practices in student-centered online learning to guide and inform the creation and review of online learning courses for TVO. Your work will entail meeting the provincial standard for curriculum expectations in all subjects, through the development, creation, and review of learning activities in online formats. In this position you will build skills in the use of Brightspace, online course development, and the development of engaging online content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the TVO team to align course pedagogy with active learning and to plan for course interactivity
  • Work with a cross-functional team to inform the creation of engaging, interactive, rigorous and relevant course content that is rooted in cutting edge pedagogy for diverse learners
  • Ensure that all learning activities are equitable: bias free, reflect an indigenous perspective, and are AODA compliant
  • Follow TVO’s Educational Blueprint in all development activities
  • Edit course content and related documentation, in keeping with TVO’s quality and time requirements
  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education, intermediate/senior with additional education or training in a related field (Master of Education an asset)
  • Must be OCT certified
  • Proven ability and experience designing appropriate, accessible, and engaging online educational content for online learning environments
  • Ability to develop online learning modules
  • Experience implementing Ministry of Education policy and program requirements, e.g. Transferable Skills, Growing Success, and Achieving Excellence
  • Understanding of how to build effective and authentic assessment for learning activities
  • Experience with projects where digital assets were created
  • Strong time management, analytical and interpersonal skills required, along with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Excellent grammar, verbal and written communication skills required, including experience in presenting to all levels of leadership
