Network Engineer – Hamilton, ON On behalf of our client, Procom is seeking a Network Engineer for a 5 months contract in Hamilton, ON Network Engineer Job Details Implement and manage IT Infrastructure in compliance with IT strategies and road-maps, as well as provide technical support in an integrated, multi-platform system environment. This includes: system hardware, software, desktop, networks, voice communications, disaster recovery, monitoring, and security. Ensure availability and accessibility of infrastructure systems accordingly to established Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Collaborate with third party vendors and manage delivery of contracted services ensuring compliance with processes and best practices. Engage with other IT departments and business partners to translate business objectives into cohesive recommendations and solutions, define infrastructure design, and deliver quality services and solutions. Evaluate and implement new products available through outside vendors. Establish and document operational standards and procedures. Network Engineer Responsibilities Responsible for the design, installation, configuration, maintenance, system integration testing, documentation, capacity management and support of network routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, proxy servers and wireless infrastructure. Manage the planning and designing of new networks and ensure appropriate interface capabilities with other networks and systems. Proactively monitor and manage Networks for faults and performance exceptions. Implement and support wide area network services and routing protocols. Provides coaching to junior-level employees. Design, install, configure, and maintain network (Cisco IOS, NX-OS, and associated connected systems) and related utilities, and hardware. Manage work requests related to network including incident response, service requests, and change requests. Perform analysis and diagnosis of complex voice and data network issues. Advance knowledge of Cisco UCM voice systems and QOS. Provide operational oversight of Infrastructure vendor performance, including maintenance of SLA’s, aged incidents, capacity planning, and problem resolution. Review monitoring and control of infrastructure performance in the areas of response, throughput, and availability. Partner with Enterprise Architecture and vendor partners to evaluate applicable technology trends, research, evaluate and recommend enterprise network products/protocols/technologies, and establish network system. Develop and maintain documentation of the design, implementation and operation of network. On-call duties to support the 24×7 business operations. Network Engineer Must Have Skills Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or similar program. Minimum 7 years of experience planning and implementing large scale, multi-vendor networks in corporate and service provider environments including specific experience with routing, switching, and network security services (firewalls, proxy etc.). Direct experience maintaining and supporting Cisco network infrastructure and services including in-depth analysis and problem resolution. Experience with Python, Ansible and other network automation tools in a large, distributed environment. Direct business partner/customer contact to understand technical requirements and deliver systems to solve business problems. Basic understanding of ITIL Principals and/or ITIL Foundation Certification. Technical Certification in information technology and/or demonstrated ability through work experience. Ability to work both independently to see a task to completion and to work within a team environment. Excellent technical problem resolution skills with the ability to implement complex resolutions. Ability to work under time constraints while maintaining a high level of customer service. Ability to communicate technical information in a concise, understandable and accurate manner to non-technical users.
