We are currently seeking a dedicated Therapist to join the Community Mental Health team, located in New Westminster, British Columbia.

The Therapist supports individuals and families affected by complex mental illness and substance use disorders and focuses on provision of intensive individual and group therapy and care coordination support within the local service area. Services may be provided on an outreach basis when required in order to assess and engage with clients within their own environment and community.
Build on your experience as you:

    •Provide treatment and support to clients including people in crisis through developing and implementing recovery treatment options. •Provide short term brief interventions, follow-up, observing, and evaluating treatment outcomes. •Support the intake process and assess client needs by performing initial screening of referrals from other sources. •Determine priority of care, client eligibility, availability of resources, service priorities, and appropriate treatment based on client needs, urgency of request and standard methodologies. •Facilitate client utilization of appropriate community services and rehabilitative programs through methods such as considering the client’s motivation and their stage in the treatment process. •Coordinate services with police, hospitals, crisis lines and suicide prevention programs. •Identify gaps and problems with service and recommends solutions to assist in the development and maintenance of a coordinated mental health care system within the community.

To join our team you have:

    •Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW), Clinical Counselling. •Two (2) years recent, related social work and/or clinical counseling experience working with clients affected by mental illness and substance use disorders. •Valid Class V British Columbia driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for business related purposes.
