Your main duties as the Mechanical Drafter and Estimator will be to understand our customer’s needs, preparing proposals, and furthering relationships with new and existing customers and vendors. Through continuous improvement, leadership, teamwork, integrity and a commitment to go the extra mile, we will continue to look for innovative ways to improve our business and ourselves. In addition, duties also include, but are not limited to:Make routine project and client visits to understand customer needs, orchestrate new business, connect on ongoing projects, and building lasting relationships with key accounts;While on project sites, provide customers with a consultative service by highlighting value ads, preventative maintenance, and other recommendations that could mutually benefit the client and their business; Consult on projects such as pipe fitting, compressor installs, millwright construction work, maintaining and improving high production facilities, custom mechanical solutions, facility relocations, equipment rebuilds, rigging, and moving equipment/machinery;Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment;Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate;Perform risk and contract management responsibilities as required;Work with Uptimes suppliers to foster relationships and negotiate pricing;Work as a team to find innovative ways to solve problems for our customers that result in improvements or savings for their facilities;Conceptualize and design mechanical systems, and work in conjunction with engineers when applicable;Actively search for new and innovative technologies/solutions to keep Uptime and its customers competitive;Put together accurate proposals while working alongside sub trades and other departments;Put together project plans, communication plans, and facilitate project hand off meetings for all relevant project stakeholders once a project has been awarded;Work with project managers to answer questions they may have as the project progresses;Communicate with supply chain, sales, marketing, engineering, sub-trades and finance;Assist with training of new and existing employees within team;Provide feedback to improve Uptimes processes and systems;Participate in company training or hiring related to job;Participate in and reinforce company procedures, systems and safety policies.The successful candidate should be someone who can remain flexible, resourceful, and proactive at all times. You bring a high-level of energy, a positive attitude, a demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, and critical thinking habits. Most notably, you come with a broadened skill set and wide range of experience within the industrial mechanical industry.
