TMIG Group, a T. Y. Lin International company is seeking a Manager of Transportation Planning. The Manager of Transportation Planning wins and delivers projects that span all areas of transportation planning including master planning and the development of design guidelines and policy for public sector agencies. An expert facilitator, the Manager of Transportation Planning leads public and stakeholder consultation processes at all levels. A deep understanding of transportation planning and engineering principles and standards, the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) process and Planning Act a must. This senior position requires an absolute commitment to technical excellence and dedication to the growth of the Traffic Group along with our Quality Control / Quality Assurance program at TMIG|TYLI. Other responsibilities include (but are not limited to):Assist with business development opportunities that may help identify new business, build and maintain key customer relationships and assist with increasing our current market position in site plan development.Provide guidance, mentoring and management to a team of professionals in order to secure more projects after winning bids.Build and maintain client relationships in order to further grow the business.Overall responsibility for the management of the budget and bid schedule.Maintain a good relationship with both internal and external stakeholders and provide expertise when necessary.Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, together with providing strong support to the team at all times.CORE COMPETENCIES· Accountability· Communication· Decision-making · Resource and Fiscal Management· Ethics· Planning and Organizing· Leadership· Problem Solving· Results Orientation· Strategic Thinking· Project Management· TeamworkManage all public sector transportation projects at TMIG|TYLI.Review and coordinate documents to be submitted to approval agencies: reports, drawings, cost estimates, etc.Meet with clients and approval agencies (municipalities, regions and conservation authorities) to coordinate projects.Attend industry events to remain current on market trends, development standards and to promote TMIG|TYLI to clients and approval agencies.Be responsible for the overall project delivery, on budget and on schedule.Work with a team, establishing and setting the bar for innovative site plan design engineering solutions.Manage the full scope of projects, acting as client interface from initial client meeting to proposal, construction and final report. Lead business development initiatives, maintain strong client relationships, identify and follow through on strategic opportunities. Maintain and establish client relationships in order to pursue new projects. Manage project scope, schedule, and budget.Prepare project scope of work and fee estimates. Interface with clients, project teams, and other managers.Work effectively with team members as well as independently. Follow up, monitor, and manage the approval process: re-submissions and liaising with clients.Plan, develop, organize, and supervise the design efforts for all projects within the Transportation Planning Group.Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct engineering/planning projects through the selection of alternate methods, techniques or design concepts as required, to resolve unique design problems.Coordinate efforts with personnel in related departments, contract administration, project managers and client personnel to review and resolve areas of concern. Oversee special studies or analyses involving review, research, calculation, and selection required to develop required reports.Provide estimating assistance for competitive project acquisition.Lead the development of budgets, bids and contracts.Ensure implementation of TMIG|TYLI formal Project Engineering methodologies; ensuring compliance including managing technical risks, milestones, deliverables, and QA/QC processes.Participate in TMIG|TYLI Employee Succession Plan by developing your skillset and acquiring the right knowledge, skills and abilities to allow you to grow in your career and provide you with the capabilities to perform at the level of a Director. At least 15 years’ of experience in the area of traffic engineering and planning.Registered Professional Planner (RPP) or Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation from a Canadian licensing body.Significant experience leading transportation planning projects.Significant public facilitation experience. Familiarity with local and provincial planning and engineering processes and standards.Experience in chairing meetings and making presentations to clients, approval agencies and other municipal project stakeholders.Strong background in transportation modelling and design.Good knowledge of municipal engineering systems, general design principles and AutoCAD.Effective in solving problems and providing information to clients.Strong writing and overall communication skills.A positive attitude and personable, team oriented approach.The Municipal Infrastructure Group., a T.Y.
