This role is newly created to respond to the companies impact of existing and emerging technologies after a large merger between two companies. The purpose of this position is to reduce the tax data burden, drive efficiencies, create cost effective initiatives using technology and managing projects related to multiple software offerings. This position will be called upon by upper management as a driving force to transform the existing tax department into a cutting-edge digital department. This role will also be positioned well to take advantage of and implement emerging tax technologies, such as business intelligence solutions, data wrangling solutions, tax provisioning software, robotic process automation, artificial intelligence, SharePoint, and cloud solutions. This position will also: What you will do: Develop and execute upon a tax technology roadmap to assist Nutrien tax in its journey to become the tax department of the futureCreate and continually improve processes over multiple systems in the tax department and creating bridges to utilize multiple systems seamlessly. The tax department currently uses OneSource and Taxprep for tax compliance, Longview for income tax accounting and multiple software’s for fixed assets and indirect taxesEffectively and efficiently support the company’s utilization of multiple ERP Systems (SAP S4/HANA, SAP, Oracle and Peoplesoft) Manage and perform day to day operational aspects of multiple projects, keeping the role’s direct report and any other key stake holders informed of meeting existing deadlinesSupport the tax department on multiple fronts when ad-hoc needs present themselvesTake ownership of assigned tasks and monitoring them until completion, including documenting requirements, configuration, testing and project profitabilityIdentify ways to automate current departments manual tasks using existing financial or tax systems and emerging technologiesSupport the department by consolidating tax data to make analysis and planning more efficientHelp support improved reporting capabilities, by either supporting the current process to create outputs to management faster and more efficient and/or by enhancing the outcome for better utilization for the company to evaluate risk and capitalize on opportunitiesPromotes and creates global tax planning ideas with use of technology within Tax Department to accomplish specific Department metricsDesign and implement data gathering and automation solutions for informational tax reporting obligations and/or transactional indirect taxesAids tax team members on any required dutiesWorks with external consultants with regards to systems implementations or upgrades. Complies with all Company standards, policies and procedures pertaining to appropriate conduct for employees, including the Statement of Core Values and Code of Business Conduct; the Respect in the Workplace Policy; Safety, Health and Environment Policies; and any other applicable standards, policies and procedures as implemented and/or revised by the Company or by legislationAssists in teaching and mentoring other Tax team members to aid in their career growthMaintain knowledge with respect to technical tax issues and accounting standardsOther duties as assigned.NOTE: Nothing in this job description restricts management”s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any timeWhat you will bring: Should possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Information Systems and a minimum of five years of providing tax automation services or related work experience. Working experience with IAS 12. Practical experience designing, developing and implementing software. Working knowledge and the ability to incorporate current tax laws and regulations will be required. Prior experience at a Big 4 or other consulting experience a plus.Technology Skills – Ideally, you will have experience with at least one or more of the following:OneSource, Taxprep, Longview, Powertax, OneSource Indirect and Sovos for tax software’sOracle or SAP experience for ERP softwareMicrosoft Office VBA developmentMicrosoft Power BI suiteAlteryx or Power QueryPowerPlan Tax Fixed AssetsSharePoint development and utilizationPersonal Skills and AttributesA strong interest in technology and its use in business processes.
