Fog is looking for a strategic and entrepreneurial operator to work in its retail, apparel, textile, and automotive portfolio to lead the integration of new acquisitions and to drive strategy and operational excellence initiatives across all 10 of its existing businesses.

This person will report into the Portfolio Manager and be responsible for the integration of new acquisitions beginning with participation in the due diligence pre-acquisition followed managing the process of integrating the business into Constellation and then supporting the acquired business as they implement Constellation best practices across all functions and areas of their business. This person will also be responsible for the ongoing implementation of best practices in organic growth and operational efficiency across the existing portfolio of businesses – projects will range from evaluating new product opportunities to optimizing service delivery. High energy, motivation, initiative, and drive are a must. A successful candidate will be disciplined and detail-oriented, have exceptional commercial instincts, be highly analytical and evidence-driven, have excellent communication skills and the humility and openness to be able to learn from and work well with stakeholders across the company.

Office location is in Toronto, Ontario.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Integration
  • Work with acquisition team to confirm diligence findings and develop investment thesis
  • Define integration plan for target acquisitions
  • Coordinate key stakeholders to execute closing and onboarding activities for new acquisitions ranging from employee, customer and partner communications to systems transitions and introduction of best practice
  • Support acquired business units in the analysis and implementation of best practices to achieve investment thesis goals
  • Constant improvement through post-mortem review, documentation, and development of integration best practice with each incremental acquisition

• Strategy and Operational Excellence
  • Organize quarterly and annual strategic reviews as well as annual functional deep dives and ad hoc opportunity or risk reviews for business units across the portfolio to identify business improvement opportunities
  • Work closely with the portfolio manager and business unit managers to define strategies and operational improvement plans
  • Develop KPIs and monitor and measure progress of operational improvement projects across the portfolio
  • Develop and maintain relationships with best practice experts across Constellation
  • Identify and then codify new best practices to enable or enhance their future implementation

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• 2+ years in a management consulting role with a top tier firm.
  • Loved consulting but found the lack of follow-through and long-term involvement frustrating; this role empowers execution and accountability.
• 2-4 years of experience in an operating business, delivering on strategy and operational improvement projects.
  • Loved operating but found it to be too tactical and easy to get lost in the weeds; this role covers multiple businesses and functional areas.
• Experience with acquisition due diligence and post-acquisition integration.
• Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and succeed in a fast paced, growing, and dynamic work environment.
• Excellent analytical, written, and verbal skills and ability to work in a collaborative manner with the senior management team.
• Advanced time management, attention to detail and organizational skills. Adaptable and flexible with an ability to respond to changing work priorities, pressure and demands.
• Experience working with Microsoft Great Plains and BPC is an asset.
