What you’ll do:

You will provide leadership, direction, support and mentorship to distribution centers (DC), feed plants and corporate offices on building operations and capital renewal. You will lead strategic investment on major capital initiatives and related requirements including HVAC and controls, lighting and building envelope. You will prepare consolidated building budgets and required operating reports for a portfolio of buildings totaling 2.5 million square feet with an operating budget of $24M+ annually.

  • You will provide Building Operations Supervisors direction, guidance and assistance on maintenance standards, facility preventative maintenance programs and standard operating procedures. You will ensure health, life and safety regulations are met, required inspections are scheduled and performed and documentation standards are met.
  • You will manage Home Office building (HO1, HO2, HO3, Central Zone) operations. Facilitate management of large capital projects as owner representative including project ideation, budgeting, and procurement, negotiation of contracts, project management and execution support.
  • You will develop strategic capital renewal plans that address operational risk and result in significant operational savings. Prepare and/or evaluate business cases for all major building capital projects for all FCL Buildings. On large projects, you will provide recommendations to the Director on project merit, need and sufficiency of analysis. Guide operations on project planning and provide project management services as required.
  • You will work collaboratively with the Manager DC, Maintenance to ensure effective operation of major building systems. Ensure safe work practices, effective inspection programs and documented preventative maintenance programs are in place and followed.

    Who you are:

    You are looking for a career in Production, Trades and Maintenance and:

  • You have a Degree in Business or Engineering and a minimum of 8 years of relevant progressively responsible experience with building operations in a leadership role. OR
  • You have a 4th Class Power Engineer certification or greater and a minimum of 10 years of relevant progressively responsible experience with building operations in a leadership role. (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
  • Knowledgeable of regulations related to building codes, life and safety, fire and protection systems are required. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Highly organized, results oriented and able to handle multiple projects concurrently. Working knowledge of MS Windows, ACAD and experience with computerized maintenance systems.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration systems and equipment maintenance is an asset.
  • WHMIS, First Aid, Type 1+2 Asbestos, AED training are required, or must be obtained once in the role.
