Job Description

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide preventative and regular maintenance of food manufacturing equipment. 
  • Follow all GMP, Health & Safety, Food Safety, & Environmental Standards. 
  • Support, service, and maintain the plant electrical and mechanical components to meet the production goals.   
  • Complete preventative maintenance and work required on improvement/capital projects. 
  • Responsible for adhering to 5S program 
  • Can work independently and be receptive to overtime in a 24 hours unionized environment. 
  • Must have own toolbox/tools 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED 

Trade School Diploma or Higher  

 

TRAINING AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED 

  • Must have good problem solving and communication skills. 
  • Valid Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Provincial Trade or Red Seal License 
  • 3 years of experience as a Millwright in a similar industry (food/pharma is preferred). 

 

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED 

  • 1-year experience in ARC / MIG / TIG welding.  
  • 1-year experience with PLC systems (a plus)  
  • Sanitary and non-Sanitary Welding (a plus)  

 

BUSINESS COMMUNICATION 

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee is occasionally required to sit.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but hearing protection may be required depending on the department where the employee is assigned.
