More information can be found Maintenance Engineer in Training’s, primary objective is to deliver a higher level of equipment reliability and availability through the introduction and development of maintenance prevention processes and engineering practices. Implement new concepts and proven tools that will deliver higher reliability and performance. Develop and maintain standardized KPIs to evaluate the plant’s performance and recommend improvements. Improves the uptime and productive capacity of critical equipment using formalized problem-solving techniques. In addition, the Maintenance Engineer will provide technical mechanical assistance for the Plant team. When required, the Maintenance Engineer will assume the responsibilities of a Maintenance Supervisor/planner and lead mechanical repair staff. Furthermore, the incumbent will define and implement capital projects within the capital budget plan in order to improve the plant’s operation and keep the plant in a long-term competitive position.For those seeking a learning and development opportunity, after completing the first few months in this role, you will be eligible to be part of our Lafarge Leadership Development Program (LLDP). This is an 18-month program to grow our talents, during which we assign you a mentor, provide you leadership and operational training with experts and senior leaders, ask you to lead a specific project and give you the opportunity to network with other participants enrolled in the LLDP program.Safety: To serve as a role model in the areas of safety, environmental stewardship, leadership, teamwork, customer focus, and continuous improvement to ensure alignment with the company’s vision and critical success factors, and assist in developing, recommending and managing process & equipment reliability programs (Root cause failure analysis/ Mean Time Between Failure).Mechanical Performance: To perform studies to ensure the overall reliability and capacity of the mills through product quality standards, equipment specific specifications and requirements compliance and work with supervisors of maintenance (mechanical and electrical) to ensure optimal performance and efficiency of maintenance activities (mechanical & electrical).Reliability: The candidate will have to be able to identify and manage asset reliability/ risks that could adversely affect business operations as well as plan and execute reliability improvement projects specifically intended to support production to incrementally improve plant performance. Review engineering specifications/drawings and propose design modifications to improve reliability within cost and other performance requirements and monitor equipment performance and evaluate equipment history and failure trends to determine sources of poor component performance.Root Causes Analysis: To evaluate equipment failure modes and utilize engineering experience and training to develop solutions for eliminating/mitigating potential failure(s) and provide or obtain technical expertise to assist the production, process, and maintenance departments in the optimization of equipment.Planning: The Maintenance Engineer with the input of plant personnel will be asking to assist in planning and implementing capital projects with minimum supervision, interface with vendors, contractors, and engineering firms on proposal for design and execution of projects in all the technical aspects, bearing in mind the safety aspects and coordinate the system start-up and commissioning along with the plant people; assists in the resolution of any contract disputes; organize proper training when required.Preventative Maintenance: to contribute to maintaining and updating the long-term plan, which provides the medium to long term direction for the plant; maintain a continual awareness of project status and cost. Perform a contributing role in developing spare parts lists; coordinate development of specifications for mechanical and electrical disciplines. Optimize the downtime management system to be able to better plan maintenance activities.Relationship with other jobs:Works closely with the maintenance team.Works with the Process / System / Production teams as needed.Dimensions: Plant Capacity: 250,000T cementNumber of Direct Reports: 0Specific Accountabilities:Provide a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.Ensure that projects comply with all legislated regulations and corporate policies.Successfully complete projects on time and within budget, with effective use of resources.Ensure productivity, housekeeping and quality of work standards are maintained on all projects.Aim to achieve targeted reliability on all major equipment through recommendations and the installation new equipment.Achieve personal and departmental goalsA mechanical engineering degree or technical college diploma/degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or 2 to 5 years of related experience1+ year of relevant experience in the mechanical maintenance environmental will be an asset.Familiar with automated drafting software (ex.: Autocad)Knowledge of project management procedures, cost control, and scheduling.Ability to work on many tasks at the same time while keeping excellent organizational skills.Good leadership ability and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of the cement technology and manufacturing is an asset.Demonstrate ability/skill in working with mechanical tools and equipment.
