Job Description

We are looking for a Licensed Heavy-Duty Mechanic with a CVSE Inspection Certificate to Maintain, Troubleshoot and Repair a Fleet of Tractor, Trailers and Forklifts along with outside work as required.  The Chosen Applicant must be able to be the Lead Person in the Workshop when the Shop Manager is away overseeing the shop operation and supervise workers.

Responsibilities include:

  • • Maintain Preventative Maintenance Program
  • • Plan jobs and order parts
  • • Diagnose, Perform Maintenance & Repairs including welding
  • • Document all aspects of Repairs & Maintenance
  • • Keep Tools, Equipment & Work Area Clean, Organized & in Good Working Condition
  • • May assist in Training other Workers in Repair Techniques
  • • Perform Related Work as Assigned 

Qualifications Required:

  • • HD Mechanic Transport Certification 
  • • CVSE Inspection Certificate 
  • • Class 1 or 3 Drivers license preferred
  • • Welding Experience 
  • • Good Organizational and Time Management Skills 
  • • Conscientious of Safety Procedures and Practices 
  • • Ability to Read Manuals and Schematics is an Asset
  • • Applicant must have Own hand tools

Penta Transport Ltd. opened in the spring of 1998. Ken Slawson and Gord Putz began Penta Transport Ltd. with a few Lease Operators and taking turns between driving their trucks and working in the office. Soon, the growing business required both Ken and Gord to work in the office as more Lease Operators signed on and the customer base expanded. Penta Transport began leasing trucks that are operated by employee drivers to meet the growing customer base. The company grew out of its Ladysmith location and moved to a larger location just south of Nanaimo in 2003.
