We are also part of Heidelberg Cement Group, one of the world-s largest building materials companies.Reporting to the President of the Region, the Director, Business Development will be responsible to identify and drive opportunities for strategic growth of the business in Western Canada and the US Pacific Northwest at existing facilities, greenfield sites or through the acquisition of facilities and assets from another company.This position will provide leadership and direction on strategic projects for Lehigh Hanson Canada Region. include defining business development plans, building key relationships, identifying business opportunities, organizing internal resources, negotiating and closing deals and maintaining an extensive knowledge of market conditions.What you will get to do:Assess, prioritize, manage and deliver on strategic projects for Lehigh Hanson including identifying greenfield/brownfield aggregate reserves, distribution network opportunities, joint ventures, swaps, divestitures, acquisition targets, and other capital projects in line with the company-s strategic goalsGather market intelligence and foster key relationships with stakeholders including managers, customers, suppliers, industry associations, governmental agencies, and other sources of information regarding potential growth opportunities for the business.As opportunities present themselves, assess, prioritize, and organize the efforts and resources to identify scope, timeline, required resources and execution plans for the development of the businessCreate strategies plans to drive revenue growth, value enhancement and cost optimizationProvide ongoing analyses of the economic, demographic, political and competitive landscapes for current and potential markets. Research and develop a thorough understanding of the company-s people and capabilitiesDirect due diligence teams in reviewing all aspects of proposed deals.Lead project teams and coordinate functional expertise as assigned by senior managementParticipate in senior management meetings to advise and develop strategyBuild and manage strong relationships and trust across and outside the Company including potential investment targets, internal management, government, industry, and community leaders to the benefit of the reputation, effectiveness, and impact of Lehigh Hanson CanadaBusiness Development includes, but is not limited to: acquisition targets, greenfield/brownfield aggregate reserves, distribution network opportunities, joint ventures, swaps, divestitures, and other capital projects in line with the Company-s strategic goals.Essential Experience & Skills: University degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, engineering, or a related field. A master-s degree is strongly preferred.Strong project management, financial acumen, and analytical skills.Working knowledge of the heavy building materials industry in Canada and the Northwestern United States.Outstanding verbal and written communication, and networking skills.Experience in analysis, prospecting, networking and persuasionThe ability to devise and implement highly sophisticated strategic deals through the coordination of functional teams and expertiseAbility to travel extensively in Canada and the US.
