PopReach is searching for a talented Lead Artist to join our new Vancouver studio. Reporting to the Exec Producer, you should have 10+ years of experience producing game art, and be a strong generalist with specific hands-on expertise in a major area of art production. You should also have at least 3 years of experience as a lead artist, and have shipped a high-quality game in a role where you were responsible for guiding artists, critiquing their work, and mentoring them, within a cross-disciplinary leads team. You need to be able to work in collaboration with other discipline leads to support their goals, and to get support for the art team’s needs

Responsibilities:

  • Develop overall visual style and supervise the creation of all visual elements

  • Generate artwork in areas of specialization which may include character, environment, props, textures, mood, lighting, and story concepts.

  • Ensure high level quality for all backgrounds and designs, maintaining the overall vision for the production

  • Supervise art team and assign tasks, ensuring deadlines are met and production schedule is adhered to

  • Mentor and coach team of artists

  • Partner with the Producer and recruiting department to staff art team as needed

  • Ensure all artwork is delivered on time with quality according to production schedule

  • Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience managing a team of artists with excellent leadership skills

  • Diverse style capabilities with a focus on colorful, playful and styles with mass appeal

  • Knowledge of relevant software including Unity, Photoshop, Blender and Illustrator

  • A portfolio that demonstrates a track record of producing compelling work. Those who apply without a portfolio will not be considered

  • Experience in communicating and presenting your ideas to both the team and to management 

  • Eligible to work in Canada
