This is a skilled position involving the maintenance and repair of commercial transport vehicles including concrete mixer trucks, dump trucks, trailers, and forklifts.The position primarily entails preventive maintenance and repairs to our Commercial fleet, as well as pick ups and heavy equipment. The candidate would possess strong skill sets in electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems, some welding and fabricating would be an asset. Essential Job Functions:Road test motor vehicles and test automotive systems and componentsAdjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systemsTest and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s specificationsPerform scheduled maintenance serviceInspect and test mechanical unitsDiagnose faults and malfunctionsRepair and replace mechanical unitsTest and adjust units to specificationsAdjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systemsAdjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systemsTest and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s specificationsPerform scheduled maintenance serviceReview work orders and discuss work with supervisorComplete reports to record problems and work performedEstimate parts and labour costsMaintain safety, health, and environmental policies and proceduresKeep accurate records of work completed, parts used and costsOther job duties may include:Front-end component repair, engine repair, 4-wheel drive, electrical and electronic systems, diesel engines, diagnostics, alignment, steering and suspension, brake systems, hydraulic systems, fuel and emission systems, ignition and electrical systems, automatic transmission, standard transmission, AC, cooling and heating systems, engine repair and overhaul, drive train components, welding, truck-trailer repair, working on heavy duty equipment (Loaders, Excavators etc), Concrete plant maintenance and repair an asset :Familiar with the Hours of Service rules and regulations as well as Provincial truck driving rules and regulationsAbility to fabricate and weld all componentsAbility to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external staff and business partnersIntermediate computer skills required including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and ExcelAbility to read, write and speak English fluentlyClass 1 driver’s license or Class 3 with air requiredProvince of British Columbia Commercial Vehicle Inspectors CertificateEducation & Experience:High school diploma or equivalentB.C. Certificate of Qualification, and/or Interprovincial Ticket as a Commercial Transport Mechanic, or Heavy Duty Mechanic TicketBC Commercial Vehicle Inspection CertificateForklift experience, preference will be given to individuals with a Forklift Certificate3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceFirst aid ticket an assetPhysical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move any where up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/orheat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
