Job Description


We are in search of a Kitchen Assistant to aid the Chef and work together with the entire team in the kitchen to produce healthy meals for a busy commercial kitchen.  To be successful as a Kitchen Assistant, you should be a team player, have experience in a fast paced kitchen environment, well versed in kitchen terms and techniques, and make efficient use of your time. Familiarity with or possession of a food handlers certificate and compliance with all food health and safety regulations also an asset.

Kitchen Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Properly cleaning and sanitizing all food preparation areas according to established standards of hygiene.
  • Assisting the Chef with the preparation of meal ingredients, which includes washing, cleaning, peeling, cutting, chopping and the cooking of poultry, and meat.
  • maintaining a clean workstation, kitchen equipment, including wiping down kitchen walls.
  • The ability to execute a simple recipe with precision and attention to detail.
  • Assisting with the unloading of delivered food supplies.
  • Organizing and correctly storing food supplies.
  • Working closely with the Chef, communicating clearly and following the Chef's instructions.

Kitchen Assistant Requirements:

  • Proven experience assisting in kitchens.
  • A food handler's certificate.(an asset)
  • Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to work in a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
