The Junior Camp Leader reports to the Manager, Arts & Culture. This position will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of camp programs offered by the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo. The Junior Camp Leader will be respectful of program participants and will be responsible for making sure that the activities and areas remain clean, safe, and well maintained. This position will require an individual to exemplify exceptional customer service and will be an important role.Position Type: 12Seasonal Positions AvailablePay Rate: $17.01/hourPosting Date:March 11, 2020Closing Date:Open Until FilledAnticipated Start Date: July 2, 2020Anticipated End Date: August 28, 2020Guide participants in day-to-day age appropriate activities that promote fun, learning and development.Provide a safe and secure environment with respect to the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo’s policies and procedures.Assist with set up, take down and cleaning of camp equipment or supplies.Supervise camp programs and enforce rules for all campers.Ensure the provision of nutritious snacks and lunches when appropriate.Provide parents and other participants with information regarding staff, scheduling, expectations, services, and planned activities.Provide insight into camp programming and emergency procedures.Provide exceptional customer service to all guests.Complete additional projects as assigned by the SupervisorCertifications:Current Standard First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or equivalent (including CPR C).Education: Minimum completion of Grade 10.Must be 15 years of age or older.Essential Skills and Experience:Previous babysitting or coaching experience.Ability to work independently and as part of a team to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.Previous participation in team sports or sport camps.Possesses strong leadership skills.Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills .Ability to engage in continuous learning and on the job training.Excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, responsible, service-oriented attitude.Must provide a criminal record check with vulnerable sector for review and acceptance if applicable.Desirable Skills and Experience:Experience with working with children of different ages and abilities.Level 1 Coaching Certification.Experience in customer service would be an asset.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:This position requires part time work and a flexible schedule including early morning, late night, and weekend work.This position requires ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but are not limited to, swimming, team building initiatives, rock climbing, physical games and activities.This position may include heavy lifting of supplies and equipment and may be exposed to loud noises and will require an individual to be able to concentrate in a busy environment.This position may require travel between our various facilities within the Wood Buffalo Region. Access to reliable transportation is necessary.
