This position will be the key liaison between Business Units, Information Technology, and Project Managers. As a customer focused team member with other IT staff, internal staff, external stakeholders, and management, this position will ensure that the response to assigned tasks, service request tickets, and projects is well defined, prioritized, and managed to meet the requirements and expectations of their customers.Similar accountabilities and assignments are expected of and provided to all three Business Analyst experience levels. Each experience level is differentiated by a level of proficiency required (i.e. experienced, proficient and skilled), as demonstrated through experience held and level of competence of knowledge, skills and abilities required. The time and support required to accomplish accountabilities and assignments will vary at each experience level. Business Analysts will be responsible to provide mentorship to other Business Analysts as requested and required.Conduct Business AnalysisIntroduce, review, analyze, and implement change; of business requirements and issues and unrecognized requirements and issues that the business has yet to identify.Adapt and grow one”s own knowledge and perspective, in an ever changing business and technical environment.Identify issues proactively through assessment and determination, i.e. know when to create a problem ticket with the vendor, hold a discussion with the business or IT, perform an internet search, or use other means to uncover and resolve issues.Conduct System AnalysisInterpret code to understand business rules and potential issues, and convey that information and understanding to the business.Understand database and application architectures and foster an understanding with customers of the business facing impacts to data and process.Be knowledgeable of industry best practices at varying levels of granularity, and be able to assess these within NACG”s business needs.CommunicateEnsure communication is clearly understood by the audience, regardless of their background and technical understanding through verbal and written communication.Communicate professionally and respectfully; verbally, through actions, and by way of personal presentation.Participate in meetings as a strategic partner or facilitate meetings where the objectives are audience participation through an overview of a self-authored presentation, handouts, or solely by verbal means.Write, review, and approve documents such as project deliverables, capital expenditure requests, change control documentation, and similar artifacts.Ensure Quality AssuranceUtilize an IT ticketing system to self-assign tickets in shared queues.Follow change control while; implementing application changes, SQL updates, technical upgrades, or similar tasks.Ensure the issues are considered addressed by all parties, root cause is determined, monitoring of the issue is in place, and outstanding consequences are rectified.Ensure information is shared by enabling knowledge transfer verbally or through documentation at a level consumable by the audience.Support NACG audit requirements by being accountable for internal control processes and reporting.Manage ProjectsManage and participate in all phases of the system development life cycle; planning, analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance.Address multiple and rapidly changing priorities and maintain stakeholder confidence through managing expectations.Use mitigation strategies such as escalating issues, time boxing efforts, and addressing an issue in multiple ways.Address sensitive issues such as, scope-creep, a perception of in-adequate funding, and stress due to seemingly unachievable expectations tactfully.Post-Secondary education in Business or Information Technology.Five years’ experience in a Business Analyst or related role.Experience in JD Edwards (ERP system) is required.Reporting systems, Primavera and Hard Dollar (industrial projects systems) is an asset.Experience in the construction, industrial, or related sectors preferred.Excellent written and verbal communication.Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to influence others.Customer service attitude and focus.Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment.Mature analytic problem solving skills.In-depth knowledge of business processes, operations and related industry practices.Strong financial and business analytical skills and process design skills.Ability to problem solve and facilitate to drive for results.Able to prioritize and work independently.Delivers informative and well organized presentations.Understands how to communicate difficult and sensitive information tactfully.Possesses an understanding application programming, database and system design.All successful candidates must:Be proficient in English, both verbally and writtenHave experience as requested in the job description aboveUndergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testing:Breath Alcohol TestUrine Drug TestThe Rewards of our positions include: competitive compensation and benefits packages and excellent career growth prospects.To explore this opportunity, please submit a resume of your experience and accomplishments in confidence.North American Construction Group (NACG) has served as an industry leader in the heavy construction and mining industries for over 65 years.
