Position Description TEDRA (Trade Enrichment Data Reporting & Allocations) is part of the Institutional Securities Technology (IST) Division. It is responsible for maintaining, distributing, and reporting on trading, revenue, risk, and reference data (client, product, and pricing). As the authoritative source of key data sets, we are at the forefront of database technology and are heavily involved in data engineering, data science, data visualization, and machine learning efforts across the Firm. Our clients include Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities, Investment Banking, Research, Global Capital Markets, Operations, Finance, and Legal & Compliance. We are responsible for Application Infrastructure, foundational strategies, tools and technologies that are leveraged across Tech & Data, as well as standardized data and enterprise-wide services to enable the Firm’s businesses. This job opening is for an intermediate level developer in the Securities Reference Data (SRD) department. The SRD department is responsible for creating and supporting authoritative sources of Fixed Income & Equity Product data for the Morgan Stanley business. Responsibilities include – Develop new functionalities, enhance existing functionalities for reference data applications – Work with a team of near-shore and off-shore developers in the delivery of Product Reference data strategic deliverables with a focus on Fixed Income – Support creation of Business Requirement, Design Documentation, Functional Documentation – Support QA and user testing and level 3 production support – Co-ordinate deployment validation with Data Operations/Production Management To support these responsibilities, the team member must – Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills – Work collaboratively with other team members – Have a preference for action, working with minimal supervision – Have a strong sense of dedication and willingness to take ownership – Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct and practice Qualifications Required skills – Minimum 3 years of commercial java experience. – Need to have worked on distributed Java applications, in a service based architecture – Need to demonstrate understanding of OO principles, design patterns and threading techniques. – SQL knowledge is required Nice to have While the following are not mandatory, these are valuable skills for performing this role – HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular – Python/Perl – MQ or other JMS based – Web Services architecture styles including SOAP and/or REST – Experience working with procedures, triggers, and indexes – Prior experience working with non-relational text search and cross referencing engines – Unix tools and scripting (Perl, ksh/bash, and Autosys) – Full SDLC, from requirements gathering to production deployment – Large-scale, real-time, business critical systems – Exposure to cloud based data analysis and platforms Knowledge of French and English is required.
