The Ministry of Citizens’ Services performs a dynamic, corporate leadership role in government to support the development of an innovative, modern and robust technology environment; to improve accessible and responsive services and information to citizens; and to provide enabling infrastructure for ministries and the broader public sector to transform how government works on a day-to-day basis.
As a part of the OCIO and the Ministry of Citizen’s Services, the Digital Platforms and Data (DPD) Division provides the structures, conditions and platforms that support government’s digital transformation and continuous improvement of services to citizens.
The Data Systems and Services branch within DPD is the government’s service provider for data discovery and sharing, geospatial data management, and digital map and location services delivery. This client focused branch both leverages, and participates in open source projects, and the development and management of APIs for web map services, geocoding, routing and data sharing. We deliver these services through modern software development and deployment infrastructure. You will find examples of some of these services in the BC Data Catalogue ( https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca ) and on GitHub https://github.com/bcgov/ . The Data Systems and Services branch headquarters and main complement are located in Victoria, British Columbia, however, our team of staff and contract resources are distributed throughout the province. Applicants from outside of the capital are encouraged.
