The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Lab Supervisor, this role draws on expertise to tackle analytical instrument challenges in a growing organization by supporting qualification, maintenance, repairs and calibration of a range of laboratory testing equipment. This supporting role brings ideas to the forefront to collaborate and contribute effective metrology methods.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES &TASKS

• Routine laboratory instrument maintenance activities
• Initiation and preparation of quality documents for laboratory instrument control, including qualification protocol, memo, change control, SOP and deviation report including investigation process.
• Ongoing laboratory instrument qualification activities, including installation qualification (IQ), operational qualification (OQ) and performance qualification (PQ)
• New instrument implementation activities, including installation plan and installation qualification, determination of functionality, system suitability and service plan.
• Plan and maintain instrument maintenance and calibration schedule
• Participate in laboratory training program, providing basic training of instrumentation procedures
• Participate in laboratory stability program to support and maintain the instrument performance of the ongoing monitoring systems.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

• 2 years work experience in a pharmaceutical analytical laboratory or ISO laboratory in a full-time metrologist role
• B. Sc. in Chemistry or Biological Science or Engineering degree in the Mechanical or Electrical field.

Knowledge

• GMP and GLP guidelines as well as FDA and USP understanding an asset

Instrumentation

• Proficient in the use of general computer software including MS Office applications
• Specialized software understanding including Waters, Empower, and Dixon
• Familiarity with HPLC, UPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, PCR, TLC and other lab testing equipment
• Familiarity with refrigeration systems in an industrial environment

SKILLS

• Highly organized to make plans and monitor the execution and changing of schedules
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal forms
• Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
• Excels within a teamwork environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Morning and afternoon shift requirements
• Capable to work extended hours including some weekend work and overtime
• Exposure to bio-hazard substances
• May be dealing with dry ice & liquid nitrogen
• May work with cannabis and cannabis-related products
