As a FPGA Design Engineer, you will work in a team of dynamic engineers and be responsible for designing FPGA/CPLD and configuration circuits based on defined requirements. You will be involved in development and maintenance of different hardware to control instruments for PC in both Windows and Linux environments. The development tasks can vary from concept through firmware design to debugging and test and finally product release for internal or external customers. Every team member can participate to hardware improvement and can be involved on all aspects of design and development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
FPGA/CPLD circuit design per established requirements.
VHDL coding entry, soft processor coding, constraints, synthesis, place & route, timing closure, simulation, validation and configuration.
Working with Hardware and Software Designers to integrate the FPGA/CPLD and firmware into the system level design.
Providing support to Production and working in other departments and/or on miscellaneous assignments as required.
Keeping supervisor appraised of all unresolved and/or potential problems that would negatively affect development and/or production schedules.
Qualifications for the Ideal Candidate
Electronics Engineering Degree required with at least 5 years of applicable FPGA/CPLD design and testing experience.
Knowledge of Altera and/or Xilinx FPGA/CPLD technology and VHDL coding.
Knowledge of Altera and/or Xilinx EDA tools and techniques related to FPGA design, coding and testing.
Knowledge of high speed interface between FPGA and hardware (SerDes, DDR, PCIe, JESD204B etc.)
Experience with a range of engineering design disciplines and technologies (Electrical, Software, Mechanical, etc.) and be capable of defining and characterizing product performance metrics and measures.
Possess strong troubleshooting (to component level) and problem solving skills.
Nice to Have
Able to use common software applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to support interaction with project team members and the internal management team.
Highly motivated self-starter capable of working independently as well as in group settings.
Well organized and able to multi-task.
