Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, Community Health & Wellness, you will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, reconciling and completing monthly reports ensuring accuracy of financial records for internal & external parties in accordance with the accounting principles with Canadian Red Cross, established policies and procedures, relevant legislation, government guidelines, local contract requirements and audit requirements. Investigate, identify and research any misplaced items for all bank accounts, collaborating as necessary with Accounts Receivable and Donation Processing teams. Reconcile bank accounts daily or weekly (depending on volume of transactions) to the general ledger. In Participate in general ledger accounting support during the month end close process. Provide support to management regarding all financial reporting responsibilities. Monitor petty cash, postage and printing in the Ontario region, ensuring any journal entries and reports are prepared as required. Handle any vendor invoices. Liaise with vendors for office equipment and document shredding/archiving. Support internal and external audits as needed. Identify deficiencies in accounting processes and recommends areas of improvement Analyse balance sheet account balances on a monthly basis. Liaise with Departmental and Program staff to confirm account balances as well as investigate and rectify discrepancies. Identify any errors or omissions and prepares correcting journal entries as required. Prepares monthly reconciliation reports with clear and concise information We’re looking for: Post-secondary education or University degree in Finance, Business Administration or a related field Three to five years of work-related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Demonstrated computer skills in MS Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge and understanding of accounting theory, techniques and policies. Superior organization and time management skills reflected in ability to prioritize and multi-task. Attention to detail. Ability to problem-solve and think outside the box. Professionalism and strong interpersonal skills; able to work collaboratively within a team and build positive relationships. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take initiative as necessary. Good judgment and ability to make recommendations and support them. Superior Excel skills. Experience with AX Dynamics would be an asset. Fluency in both official languages would be an asset
