Job Description

The Extruder Operator position is a 12- hour continental (day / night) shift position. Entry level operator rate is $29.97 (actual rate will be based on experience).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work in a safe and efficiently manner, according to company policies.
  • Set-up and troubleshooting Pug mills & Extruder machine.
  • Set up & apply texture and coating line during product changes. This includes:

downloading the “queued” recipe, physically installing the texture and coating equipment required as per the recipe. (Reports the changeover effectiveness)

  • Sets raw material and scrap return feed rates.
  • Sets additive feed rates (lignosol, barium, manganese, etc.)
  • Monitors vacuum chamber for over-feeding.
  • Monitors extrusion and pugging parameters for consistency and adjusts if required.
  • Monitors Dust Collector and associated ducting.
  • Continually inspects all visible portions of products for color / texture variance.
  • Rejects any defective product and makes proper adjustments to the machine.
  • Preventative maintenance of machine. (Replace wear parts)
  • Actively supports other crewmembers in training and operations.
  • Reports Maintenance requests to the Production Supervisor or Production Lead Hand.
  • Communicate & work as a team with other operators.
  • Actively participates in maintenance shutdowns scheduled or unscheduled, when required by Production Supervisor or Production Lead Hand.
  • Follow Meridian Quality System and Work Instructions.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area at all times & participates in 5S program.
  • Other duties as needed

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Brick manufacturing experience preferred
  • Manufacturing experience REQUIRED for consideration

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • General understanding of control systems
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Valid lift truck certification
  • Able to lift heavy materials
  • Committed to working in a zero harm workplace
