Woodis currently recruiting for a Environmental Professional / Engineer with extensive experience in Northern Canada. The successful candidate will work in our Yellowknife office under the supervision of the Edmonton Environment Office Manager. Primary responsibility will be completion of geotechnical and environmental assessments on wide variety of projects, as required by office workloads. This role will include:Plan, conduct and manage environmental engineering assessments and investigationsPlan, conduct and manage geotechnical engineering assessments and investigationsPlan, conduct and manage materials testing and quality assessmentsPrepare proposals, written reports and recommendations for technical servicesBusiness development and client interactionOther duties will include office safety performance, staff resourcing and local office operational decisions. In addition, the role will include marketing and business development activities to grow the local office capabilities and project workloads. The position will require that the successful candidate has a solid technical and academic background in Engineering and environmental sciences. The successful candidate will also have relevant technical or regulatory experience from the consulting industryor government. Experience within northern Canada is required. Key requirements include experience with some or all of the following:Environmental assessment and reporting (Phase 1/2/3 projects, monitoring well installations, water quality management and remediation)Engineering experience related to geotechnical assessments and materials testingPermafrost training or ice engineeringFamiliarity with territorial (NWT) and federal regulatory requirements pertaining to environmental compliance;Track record of reporting and project management skillsAble to work effectively as a member of a team, and also independently with minimal supervision and directionAble to demonstrate excellent writing and communication skillsAbility to meet externally with Clients and engage in community eventsQUALIFICATIONS:Key Qualifications for this position include:University Degree Engineering or Environmental ScienceEither possess or be eligible for professional accreditation with the Northwest Territories Professional Engineers Association10-15 years’ experience, preferably in the consulting or governmentExperience within Northern Canada and permafrost conditionsWood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
